Hot Dog! Let's Celebrate Frank
[caption id="attachment_1692" align="aligncenter" width="209"] Frank Buxton[/caption] We join our community in both mourning the loss of and celebrating the great life of Islander Frank Buxton. From his earliest days in summer stock alongside Buster Keaton, Frank's long career would span numerous roles as a performer, actor on both stage and screen, writer, producer, director, and nearly every other job in entertainment. He made us all laugh as the co-founder of the EDGE Improv, the comedy troupe that he co-founded with his longtime friend John Ellis. BCF was fortunate to have Frank and John perform our annual Philanthropy Celebration in years past. His presence in the community was a lot like his laugh, big. We also knew Frank as a terrific communitarian, who was always available to help important community causes, and was recognized in 2010 as an Island Treasure. A quote from his Island Treasure bio credits a friend as saying, "Frank is not a quiet man, he seems larger than life, but he allows everyone in his company to feel welcome and important. He is a teacher by example and his constant giving of his time and resources, and the sharing of his experiences inspires others to emulate his path and offer good deeds, large and small, to the Bainbridge Island community." We couldn't agree more. We will miss you, Frank. Thanks for the laughter. On Saturday January 6th, The EDGE Improv will hosting "All About Frank" a tribute to Frank from his friends. Proceeds from the event will benefit the HotDog! Fund, a fund for capital improvements and artistic direction at Frank's beloved Bainbridge Performing Arts which Frank helped establish in 2005.
