State of the Sector Report: A View of Our Community
The role of a community foundation is to improve the quality of life within a specific area by harnessing the financial resources of individuals, families, and businesses to support community nonprofits in all sectors. Bainbridge Community Foundation aims to make these investments purposeful, impactful, and inclusive. In order to ensure we are helping meet the needs of the community, we have gathered and analyzed publicly available socioeconomic data and have administered our own annual nonprofit survey with the aim of educating ourselves and our neighbors. This State of the Sector report is intended to provide a perspective on our community, but it is not intended to be the only resource. It is a starting point for those who want to engage further with our community. We hope that those who read this report will continue to dig deeper into their areas of interest, and we are happy to answer questions or be a facilitator in helping engage with our nonprofit community.
In the words of BCF’s Executive Director, “Local nonprofits play a critical role in supporting our community, and we hope this report sheds some light on how hard they work to ensure that programs and services are inclusive and accessible for everyone,” explained Jim Hopper. “Islanders have a history of stepping up when they learn about needs in the community, and we hope this report will be informative and help inspire others to action.” We look forward to continuing to support local nonprofits through grantmaking, analysis, and educational programming.
