Bainbridge Gives: We Are In This Together

May 21, 2020

Help meet the needs of our community through our 16th Annual Community Grants Cycle!

As the shelter-in-place extends and social distancing becomes the norm, many nonprofits have found creative ways to continue their positive impact on the community. Bainbridge Community Foundation (BCF) is supporting the applications of 59 local nonprofits through its Community Grants Cycle (CGC). Please join us in helping support our local nonprofits by going to BainbridgeGives.org. In response to the rapidly changing environment, BCF made COVID-19 preparedness and support a top priority of the 2020 Grants Cycle. This year, applications run the gamut from tuition assistance for childcare, free cultural performances, first-year teacher retention, arts education and outreach, nutritious meals for children and their families who may be suffering financial crisis or illness, and many more. Some nonprofits requested critical operational support at a time when many have been deeply affected by the extended shelter-in-place order. We receive far more requests than we can fund alone, which is why we need your help. With just a few clicks you can give $10 to $10,000 to the causes or projects nearest to your heart! About the Community Grants Cycle

BCF’s Community Grants Cycle supports grant requests across all nonprofit sectors that:

  • Directly benefit the community
  • Support extremely vulnerable populations
  • Support diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Give access to programs and services that enhance affordability for those who might otherwise face barriers
  • Support organizational success

Grants may be used to support nonprofit programs and projects, capital projects, access to services, or operational expenses. During last year’s grants cycle, BCF awarded 51 grants for a record $321,813. This year, the foundation received a record of $453,398 in requests. A 46-person Grants Evaluation Team conducted virtual site visits of each nonprofit, completed evaluations, and met as a larger group to discuss the applications by sector.  Vetted and recommended applications can be viewed on BCF’s online giving platform, Bainbridge Gives (BainbridgeGives.org) until June 15 at 5pm. Since the inception of this funding program in 2005, grants totaling more than $2.45 million have been awarded. BCF welcomes your support to help fulfill these requests to sustain the wonderful programs that benefit our community. We are eager to connect you to the meaningful work of the many nonprofits that serve the Bainbridge community. We hope you’ll find a project or many projects that inspire you to give!
