blog photoPuget Sound Energy’s recent donation to Bainbridge Community Foundation’s Community Response Fund for emergency relief is making it possible for the foundation to expand its reach and help support the community through the COVID-19 crisis. Bainbridge Community Foundation (BCF) has already awarded $120,955 in grants to local nonprofits from its Community Response Fund and has distributed $663,545 total for COVID-19 emergency relief. The funds have supported nutritious food programs for kids, childcare, services for immigrants, financial support for housing costs, purchase of PPE for caregivers, online activities to promote health for cancer survivors, and much more. Puget Sound Energy is also supporting customers who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic by making revisions to its Low Income Program to allow funds to reach a broader group of customers. This initiative, called its Crisis-Affected Customer Assistance Program (CACAP) provides assistance to customers who recently became unemployed, partially unemployed, or who cannot work. A qualified customer would include someone who has a monthly household income limit of up to 250% of the Federal Poverty Level, and they can receive up to $1,000 in PSE utility-bill credits per household. Puget Sound Energy’s contribution, along with all other donations to the Community Response Fund, will be matched dollar for dollar by All In WA, the statewide relief effort powered by a coalition of public officials, companies, philanthropic leaders, community foundations, United Way organizations, community leaders, frontline nonprofits, and individuals. “We are really grateful for Puget Sound Energy’s contribution to our Community Response Fund, and we are incredibly thankful to all of our donors who are supporting our community through this crisis,” said Jim Hopper, Executive Director of Bainbridge Community Foundation. “The fact that All In Washington is matching dollar for dollar really helps us expand our reach when health and human service nonprofits apply for emergency relief funds. We are so happy to be able to provide quick assistance when it is needed.” To donate to the Community Response Fund, click on the image above or click here.
